Britain's Relationship with the USA

Barack Obama says US-UK alliance "one of the greatest the world has known" as he welcomes David Cameron to White House

Our relationship with the USA has been mutually beneficial over the last 100 years but that does not mean it will be over the next century.

Our relationship with the USA is too-close, in my view, and we are in danger of involving ourselves in too many wars.

Our 'special' relationship with the USA also means we are adopting a narrow view of the world based on a Western perspective.

The USA is a foreign country after all and it should be looked upon in a more detached & objective way, as we would with any other country.

The future of Great Britain is to have a more global & balanced foreign policy and that means not being 'joined at the hip' with the USA.

Our relationship with the USA has been a positive one but (in my view) future allignment with the USA will be our downfall !
